The Annual Meeting of The American Association of Immunologists brings together the world leaders in immunology to present their research in lectures and major symposia. AAI also invites investigators at every career stage to submit abstracts reporting their latest scientific findings in oral and poster sessions.

IMMUNOLOGY2023™

May 11–15, 2023

More than 4,100 attendees and exhibitors flocked to Washington, DC, to attend the 106th annual meeting of AAI. The IMMUNOLOGY2023™ program allowed attendees to learn the latest research findings, view ground-breaking poster sessions, celebrate the 2023 Distinguished Fellows of AAI, and attend a special session featuring Dr. Anthony Fauci. Meeting highlights included the opening address by AAI President Mark Davis, outstanding awards lectures, and an exciting Gala at the very unique National Museum of American History.

IMMUNOLOGY2022™

May 6–10, 2022

More than 3,500 attendees and exhibitors flocked to Portland to attend the 105th annual meeting of AAI. The IMMUNOLOGY2022™ program allowed attendees to learn the latest research findings, view ground-breaking poster sessions, celebrate the 2022 Distinguished Fellows of AAI, and attend special sessions on Vaccine Acceptance and ARPA-H. Meeting highlights included the opening address by AAI President Gary Koretzky, outstanding awards lectures, and an exciting Gala at the very unique Portland Art Museum.

Virtual IMMUNOLOGY2021™

May 10–15, 2021

For the first time in its history, AAI held a completely virtual meeting in 2021, owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that prevented our members from traveling. The need to share ground-breaking science had never been greater, and so the virtual format allowed AAI to offer its members an opportunity to learn about the latest research findings, view poster sessions, celebrate the 2021 Distinguished Fellows of AAI, and attend sessions, including a special session on COVID-19 and lessons learned from the pandemic.


IMMUNOLOGY2020™

The 104th annual meeting of AAI, scheduled to take place in Honolulu, HI, from May 8 – 12, 2020, was on its way to being a record breaker in terms of the number of registered attendees and abstract submissions. Sadly, the Council had to make the difficult decision to cancel the meeting due to a rapidly developing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Faced with advisories from the CDC, WHO, the U.S. Department of State, federal and state governments, and presented with extensive travel restrictions for members and colleagues around the globe, the Council determined this was the safest choice.


IMMUNOLOGY 2019™

San Diego, CA, May 9 - 13, 2019

More than 4,100 attendees and exhibitors flocked to San Diego to attend the 103rd annual meeting of AAI. The IMMUNOLOGY 2019™ program had much to offer members and guests—whether learning about the latest research findings or viewing groundbreaking poster sessions, celebrating the inaugural class of Distinguished Fellows of AAI, or attending a special session on fostering diversity and preventing harassment. Meeting highlights included the opening address by AAI President JoAnne Flynn, many well-received awards lectures, and a breathtaking Gala under the stars on the USS Midway Museum’s flight deck.


IMMUNOLOGY 2018™

Austin, TX, May 4 - 8, 2018

In the Live Music Capital of the World®, over 3,500 immunology researchers and trainees from around the globe created a soundtrack of their own. Days were filled sharing the latest research findings in over 200 scientific sessions, and exploring innovations in lab tools and technology offered by almost 150 exhibiting companies. Meeting highlights included the opening “50 Years (well, almost!) in Immunology” address by AAI President Wayne Yokoyama, and a boot-stomping IMMUNOLOGY 2018™ Gala at the legendary Stubb’s BBQ outdoor music venue.


IMMUNOLOGY 2017™

Washington, D.C., May 12 - 16, 2017

Washington, D.C. attracted record attendance during IMMUNOLOGY 2017™. Compelling lectures and posters, along with an active exhibit hall provided 5 days of cutting-edge science in the nation’s capital. Access to lawmakers created the perfect opportunity for almost 100 attendees to prolong their stay and schedule Capitol Hill visits with Congressional delegates to advocate for biomedical research and the National Institutes of Health.


IMMUNOLOGY 2016™

Seattle, WA, May 13 - 17, 2016

Over 4,000 attendees and exhibitors gathered in Seattle to attend the 100th annual meeting of AAI, IMMUNOLOGY 2016™. As the birthplace of the coffee movement, Seattle was the perfect, vibrant backdrop for a week of science and networking.  President Dan Littman (2015-2016) kicked off the meeting with his lecture, From the thymus to mucosa: a three-decade journey. Social events included the IMMUNOLOGY 2016™ Gala at the EMP museum.


IMMUNOLOGY 2015™

New Orleans, LA, May 8 - 12, 2015

New Orleans played center stage at IMMUNOLOGY 2015™ where scientists at every career stage gathered to present their research in plenary lectures and special symposia, award lecture presentations, and major symposia. More than 700 other AAI and guest society members presented their latest findings in over 100 sessions. Over 1,700 poster presenters displayed and discussed their findings throughout the week.


IMMUNOLOGY 2014™

Pittsburgh, PA, May 2 - 6, 2014

Scientists at every career stage met in Pittsburgh for a week of science in plenary lectures and special symposia, award lecture presentations, and major symposia at IMMUNOLOGY 2014™.  AAI members enjoyed five days of cutting-edge immunology research from scientists at every career stage. The AAI Public Affairs program celebrated its 25th anniversary by featuring the political satire group, The Capitol Steps.


IMMUNOLOGY 2013™

Honolulu, HI, May 3 - 7, 2013

Impeccable science mixed with the beauty of Hawaii at IMMUNOLOGY 2013™, held in Honolulu. At IMMUNOLOGY 2013™, more than 2,000 poster presenters displayed and discussed their findings, as well. Social events included a luau and fireworks, the perfect way for everyone to celebrate the 100th anniversary of AAI.
