Lefrançois-BioLegend Memorial Award

Travel Award applications are open through Tuesday, December 17.

Established to honor the memory of AAI member Leo Lefrançois, Ph.D., this award is intended to advance the career of a trainee (graduate student or postdoctoral fellow) who attends the AAI annual meeting and presents an outstanding abstract specifically in the area of mucosal immunology. This award is generously supported by BioLegend and donations from friends and colleagues of Dr. Lefrançois.

Selection is based on submission of an outstanding abstract selected for presentation in a Block Symposium at the meeting. The award recipient will receive a $1,250 cash award and a certificate during the AAI Business Meeting and Awards Presentation at IMMUNOLOGY 2020™. This award may not be combined with other awards or grants for the AAI annual meeting.

To be eligible, an applicant must meet all of these requirements:

  1. Be an AAI Trainee member for 2020 with dues paid no later than December 17, 2019.
  2. Have submitted a first-author abstract for presentation (oral and poster) at IMMUNOLOGY 2020™ in the topic category of Mucosal and Regional Immunology by December 17, 2019. Be sure to select the option during abstract submission that indicates you are willing to make an oral presentation at the meeting.

If you are not yet a Trainee member, visit http://www.aai.org/Membership/Join/Trainee-Membership to join.

Any AAI Trainee member who submits a first-author abstract to IMMUNOLOGY 2020™ in the topic category of Mucosal and Regional Immunology automatically will be considered, provided that you meet all eligibility requirements above and select the option during abstract submission that indicates you are willing to make an oral presentation at the meeting. Candidates may be asked to provide a curriculum vitae. NOTE: If you select “POSTER ONLY,” you will NOT be considered for this award.

According to U.S. law, any AAI award recipient receiving monetary awards totaling $600 or more in a single year must provide AAI with a completed Form W-9 or a Form W-8BEN (as appropriate) in advance of receiving the cash award.
