Robert R. Rich, M.D.
Brief Bio
Robert R. Rich is Professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Medical Education and Dean Emeritus of the School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Rich was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator from 1977 to 1991. He served as the editor-in-chief of
The Journal of Immunology from 2003 to 2008, and was awarded the AAI Distinguished Service Award in 1999 and the AAI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. Dr. Rich elected a Distinguished Fellow of AAI in 2019.
