Harry M. Rose, M.D.
Brief Bio
Harry Melvin Rose (1906–1986), elected to AAI in 1949, was the fourth editor-in-chief (EIC) of
The Journal of Immunology, serving from 1968 to 1971. Although Rose had the shortest tenure for an EIC, he held editorial positions for the previous decade: as an associate editor (1958–1965), a member of the editorial board (1965), and as co-editor, a position unique to him, under John Y Sugg (1966–1968). For more than 30 years, Rose held a joint appointment at Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he chaired the Department of Microbiology and Immunology from 1952 to 1973.
