We hypothesize that the identification of the mechanisms regulating fibrin deposition during infection will provide new targets for both the prevention of dissemination and abscess formation during staphylococcal infections. Furthermore, the study of fibrin deposition during infection of the mammary gland may provide new insight into controlling pathogens at the acute stage of infection thereby preventing the establishment of chronic infection. The candidate will participate in ongoing projects focused on the role of coagulation in immunity. One Ph.D. student position is available. Candidates should have M.Sc. in a related field with GPA above 3.5. Publications in peer-reviewed journals are an asset.
