Trainee members will also have the privilege of attending and participating (without vote) in the AAI Annual Business Meeting. In addition, they will receive all AAI announcements and correspondence.

7. I am retiring, can I stay member?

YES! If you are an active member and are retiring due to age or disability, you may request the status of Emeritus member. As such, you will retain your voting privileges and have all dues fees waived. The JI may be purchased, as well as other optional journals, at the member rate.

8. What is an Honorary member?

An Honorary Member is elected to membership by the AAI Council in special recognition of exceptional achievements in the field of immunology. Honorary members should reside outside of the U.S. and are not usually current AAI members. Honorary members enjoy the privilege of active membership without the payment of dues. A subscription to The JI may be purchased, as well as other optional journals, at the member rate.

9. How do I renew my AAI membership for the current year?

If you are currently an AAI Regular or Trainee member and would like to renew your membership for the current year, please contact the AAI Membership Department to obtain a membership renewal form. The form will be e-mailed to you. Once you have completed it, you can fax or e-mail it (as a PDF) back to the AAI Membership Department for processing. Acceptable methods of payment include check (institutional or personal), VISA, MasterCard, and American Express.

10. What happens if I am late in paying my membership renewal?

Dues are late after the due date as listed on your membership renewal invoice. Your subscription to The JI, the AAI Newsletter and the FASEB Newsletter will be stopped if payment has not been made. Subscriptions will resume upon receipt of payment; however, back issues of The JI will not be sent to individuals after March 1.

If payment has not been received by July 1, your membership and privileges will be suspended until your dues are paid.

11. What if I fail to pay for several years?

Your membership will be considered suspended for up to three years. As a suspended member, you must contact the membership department to reinstate your membership.

If you have gone beyond three years as a suspended member, your membership is terminated. To be reinstated, you will have to go through the application process.

12. What do I need to do to change my address?

You may either contact the AAI membership office at members@aai.org, or you can make your address changes on line by visiting the FASEB Directory website at http://mercury.faseb.org/fasebdir/

Address changes must be made at least six weeks in advance to avoid an interruption in delivery service of The JI and the newsletter. The post office will not automatically forward 2nd or 3rd class mail.

If you have ordered any optional journals through the AAI, you must contact the publisher(s) directly if you need to make an address change or are experiencing delivery problems.
