Overview
This guide contains a curriculum giving background information on
immunology and an ELISA protocol that will demonstrate the difference between an
antigen versus an immunogen. Second, the laboratory could be utilized to
increase a students understanding of current research techniques used in the
performance of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay lab (ELISA) if contact with
a university or college is established.
Suggested Time Line
Suggested Time is seven calls periods of 40 minutes.
Day 1
introduce immunology notes to students
class discussion on disease
Day 2
introduce ELISA protocol
Day 3
analyze the reasons for the procedure steps
analyze the ELISA experiment results
Day 4
having formed partnerships with a lab, start ELISA lab
Day 5
complete ELISA lab
Day 6
compare experiment results to previous experiment
Day 7
project assessment
