I'm Stuck on You!

Overview
This immunology unit is designed to supplement a 7th grade biology course. The students will acquire knowledge of basic immunology terms and concepts. They are introduced to the workings of their own immune systems, and will discover whey immunizations protect against disease. It can be taught as an extension of chapters dealing with classification of organisms, or as part of a study of the human body.

Upon completion of this unit, the student should be able to:

Day One: Introduction

  1. read student packet
  2. answer discussion questions

Day Two: "I'm Stuck on You!"

  1. prepare "costumes"
  2. review rules
  3. play game in 3 rounds
  4. optional - graph the number of inactivated viruses in each round

Day Three: Lab work *Requires advance teacher order and preparation of solutions

Day Four: Wrap up

  1. discuss results of microscope lab
  2. discuss the pros and cons of animal research
