On behalf of the Council, staff, and members of The American Association
of Immunologists (AAI), we extend our sympathy to the
victims of Hurricane Katrina and their families, and to all who have been
displaced by the hurricane and its aftermath. We share the determination of so many to offer assistance with the recovery
effort.
AAI is working to
address the needs of members and research colleagues at affected
institutions. A number of initiatives designed to serve that end are
currently being finalized.
In the meantime, we offer the resources outlined below to help scientists
begin the formidable task of sustaining or restoring their professional
lives.
AAI
Message Board
AAI has partnered with
ResCross, a
non-profit resource which serves as a central internet hub for research
support in times of emergency, to establish the
AAI Message Board.
By means of this message board, displaced scientists can seek assistance
from colleagues at other institutions, and colleagues able to host displaced
scientists or provide other means of support can make such assistance known.
If you are seeking assistance or temporary housing, please place a Support
Needed message. If you wish to offer assistance such as storage
facilities, lab space, graduate student placement, post doctoral positions,
etc., please place a Support Available message on this site.
