To become an Active (Regular) member of AAI, an applicant must apply for admission and be approved by the AAI Membership Committee and the Council. Applicants must:

Annual membership dues based on the calendar year are $260 for U.S. and non-Canadian residents and $266.25 for Canadian residents. For all non-U.S. residents, an additional $130 is required for airmail delivery if a print copy of The Journal of Immunology is requested.

Your application will be reviewed by the Membership Committee once we have received both your CV and your membership dues payment. Reviews take place approximately every 2-3 weeks. After review of your application, you will be notified by email. If your application for membership is not approved, your dues payment will be refunded in full.
To become an Emeritus member, an applicant must 1) be 66 years of age on the date of application for transfer to Emeritus, 2) have been an Active (Regular) member of AAI for the immediately preceding five years, and 3) be fully retired. An AAI Active (Regular) member who becomes disabled and is fully retired may apply for Emeritus status regardless of age.
There is no cost to maintain your membership and voting privileges. AAI welcomes any donation you might wish to make to the association to further its programs. If you wish to receive a subscription to The Journal of Immunology, the cost is $125 for U.S. residents, $255 for non-U.S. and non-Canadian residents, and $261.25 for Canadian residents which includes $130 for airmail delivery outside the U.S.

To become a Trainee member of AAI, an applicant must be a graduate student or a post-doctoral trainee enrolled in an education or training program that could lead to a career in research in immunology or a related field. Applicants for this membership category must submit at the time of application and annually thereafter a Trainee Certification Form signed by an Active AAI member certifying the applicant's trainee status. Individuals are eligible for Trainee Membership for a maximum of eight years provided they meet the trainee qualifications.
Annual membership dues based on the calendar year are $64 for U.S. and non-Canadian residents and $65.55 for Canadian residents. For all non-U.S. residents an additional $130 is required for airmail delivery of a copy of The Journal of Immunology.

After submitting the application to the AAI Membership Department online, your status will be pending until you upload the signed Trainee Certification Form in PDF format and, if paying by check, AAI receives your check.
Trainee membership dues are non-refundable except in the case where a current trainee is accepted for regular membership and pays regular dues for the same year. In that case, the full trainee dues paid will be refunded.
