AAI-BD Biosciences
Investigator Award |
|
This
award recognizes an early-career investigator who has made
outstanding contributions to the field of immunology. The
awardee will receive a $5,000 cash prize, meeting
registration, and travel support to the AAI Annual Meeting
for presentation of his or her research in an award lecture
preceded by the award presentation. This award is generously
supported through a grant from BD
Biosciences. |

AAI Public Service Award (PSA) |
|
Since 1994, the annual AAI Public Service Award (PSA) has been
bestowed on individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the
advocacy and support of basic biomedical and immunologic research and
who have distinguished themselves in such diverse fields as public
affairs and policymaking, journalism and scientific writing,
scientific research, research administration, minority recruitment and
education in the sciences, and disease research advocacy. |

Pfizer-Showell Travel Award |
|
This award is intended to recognize the professional promise of an
early career investigator (assistant professor or equivalent) and
assist with travel to the AAI Annual Meeting for the purpose of
presenting immunology research. The award was established in 1999
through an endowment from Henry J. Showell and Pfizer, Inc. Award decisions
are based on career progress and the submission
of an outstanding abstract selected for presentation in a block
symposium (oral presentation) at the Annual Meeting.
The award
recipient must attend the annual AAI Business Meeting and Awards
Presentation held during the Annual Meeting, where he/she will be recognized and presented with
his/her award. Support of up to $1,500 will be provided for travel
expenses. |

|
This award is intended to recognize promising trainees in
the field of immunology. Awardees receive a $1,000 cash
award and travel support (up to $1,500) to attend the AAI
Annual Meeting. Trainee applicants will be selected on the
basis of career promise and presentation of an outstanding
first author abstract at the Annual Meeting. Award
recipients must attend the annual AAI Business Meeting and
Awards Presentation held during the Annual Meeting, where
they will be recognized and presented with their awards. In
2007,
Invitrogen
Corporation undertook co-sponsorship of this award,
which was established in 1997. |

AAI Junior Faculty Travel
Grant |
|
This
grant is intended to assist young investigators with travel to the
AAI Annual Meeting. Grantees will be selected on the basis of career
progress and the submission of a first-author abstract to the Annual
Meeting. AAI members and nonmembers are eligible. Recipients will be presented a $700 cash award during the Annual Meeting. |

Cynthia Chambers Memorial-eBioscience
Junior Faculty Award |
|
To
honor the memory of Dr. Cynthia Chambers, the AAI, together
with
eBioscience, Inc., established this award in 2005
to advance the careers of junior scientists who attend the
AAI Annual Meeting for the purpose of presenting immunology
research, specifically in the area of cancer biology. The
award recipient must attend the annual AAI Business Meeting
and Awards Presentation where he/she will be recognized and
presented with his/her $1,000 award. Selection is based on
the submission of an original first-author abstract for
presentation (oral or poster) at the Annual Meeting. |

AAI Trainee Abstract Award |
|
Established in conjunction with the 2008 AAI Annual Meeting, this
award provides a cash prize of $500 to AAI Trainee Members (students
and postdoctoral fellows) whose first-author abstract submitted to
the AAI Annual Meeting is selected for oral presentation in an AAI
Block Symposium. To be eligible, the first author must: be an AAI
Trainee Member in good standing and have submitted a first-author abstract
by January 19, attend the AAI Annual Meeting, and make the
oral abstract presentation. No individual may receive more than two
(2) awards annually. |
